Omar on a pro bono basis represented the Bow Muslim Community Centre, Roman road on four separate hearings at the Council’s planning committee achieving planning permission.

The centre he represented has been serving the community for 15 years.

Omar was employed by Tower Hamlets as part-time youth worker and set up Keen Students Supplementary School in East London in 1989. The school supported hundreds of students.

He was the Vice Chair of Progressive Youth Organisation at the Davenant Centre, Whitechapel when the current Mayor of Tower Hamlets was employed as a part-time youth worker.

He then worked as part-time youth-worker for Daneford Trust based at Daneford School, Bethnal Green from 1991 onwards until 1994 assisted many youths facing criminal charges.

Omar became Coordinator & Youth-Worker in Charge at of Rockingham Youth Project, Elephant Castle.

He recruited a team of 8 staff and 20 volunteers during final year of his LLB (Hons) Law.

Omar was appointed schedule 1 Appointee Board Member Spitalfields Housing Association, Tower Hamlets in 1998 by the National Housing Federation.

He oversaw overhaul and recruitment of the Chief Executive.

Omar had played a key role in supporting the Bow Community through his pro bono work for the Bow Muslim Community Centre located on Roman Road.

Omar used his legal experience and expertise to represent the Centre on numerous occasions in order to support the Centre with planning permission and legal situations.

Omar’s passion to strengthen the Community through various work and provide on-hand support to the Community Centre enable him to support the entire Community, youth members and the underrepresented.

He co-wrote The Green Hajj Guide that was launched in by HRH Princess Michael of Kent in November 2011.

Omar organised the first ever seminar between the Jewish and Muslim community on protecting the environment at Tonybee Hall, Commercial Street under his then initiative EcoMuslim.

In 2016, Omar represented youth workers of Tower Hamlets council who were made redundant unfairly.

Omar’s mother, younger four siblings, one sister and three brothers all live in Tower Hamlets. His many extended family members and friends live in Tower Hamlets.
